The Sky-Dweller is the most mechanically complicated watch Rolex makes, and almost none of that complication shows on the dial. An annual calendar — Rolex calls the mechanism Saros, after the eclipse cycle — tracks the length of every month on its own and needs a single correction a year, on 1 March. A second time zone reads off the rotating off-centre disc at the middle of the dial while the hands keep local time. The twelve small apertures around the perimeter mark the month; the one filled in red is the current one.

What makes all of that usable is the Ring Command bezel. Instead of pushers or a recessed corrector, you unscrew the crown, rotate the fluted bezel to choose what you want to change — date, local time, or reference time — and set it with the crown. Everything adjusts in both directions.

Inside is the calibre 9001: 40 jewels, roughly 72 hours of reserve, Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, and Superlative Chronometer certification at −2/+2 seconds a day. The 42mm Oyster case is water resistant to 100 metres behind a Twinlock screw-down crown.

This is the Rolesor configuration collectors actually chase. The white gold fluted bezel gives the watch the light-catching edge of a Datejust while the steel case and Oyster bracelet keep it a watch you can wear every day. The black dial with applied white gold indices is the quietest of the 326934 dials and the easiest to read at a glance.

CONDITION

Excellent pre-owned condition. Several of the original factory protective stickers are still in place on the case, bracelet and clasp, exactly as pictured — left on so the next owner can be the one to peel them. The crystal, dial and 18 ct white gold fluted bezel are unmarked.
